Fixture Support Systems designed the only support that meets the National Electrical Code minimum standards. Article 422.18, Paddle Fans shall be supported independently of the outlet box. Our support brackets are anchored into the wood structure with wood screws. Our brackets are easily installed by a homeowner or handyman.
There is no competition.
The Safe-T-Brace sold with names from Commercial Electric, Raco, Westinghouse, Southwire, and others should not have been approved. I am a licensed electrical contractor. I listed the Safe-T-Brace as The Most Wrong Product of the Industrial Age. Watch the videos on this website. I put the Safe-T-Brace up against cigarettes. Cigarettes did not write on the package: Meets Health requirements from the surgeon general. The packages that contain the Safe-T-Brace make the statement: Meets or exceeds National Electric Code requirements. This is a lie. The National Electric Code requirements are the installation of electrical equipment. The package containing the S-T-B is on a shelf in a store. It is not installed. The S-T-B is not compliant with minimum NEC standards. The instruction of the product makes the statement to remove the existing box and replace it with the S-T-B. You must not remove an existing electric box and replace it with another product without a permit from the local authority. The S-T-B is manufactured with a twisting screw rod to support a steel box. Article 327 a, b, c, d, states that all electrical products shall be supported with approved anchors. The S-T-B has a rotating screw similar to a bathroom curtain rod. To be NEC compliant, the S-T-B shall be supported at either end of the twisted screw rod with #12 wood screws embedded into the wood structure at a minimum of 1”. (a drywall screw in not approved to support an electric box)
The Underwriters Laboratory is very wrong by approving this product for electrical installations.
Underwriters Laboratory approved the Intersystem Bonding Bridge Connector by Madison Electric. I wrote that the NEC article 250.94 (A) or (B) is the dumbest code written, in any code book. In this dumbest code it states that the IBBC must be securely fastened to the structure. This MEIBBC is hung by a knockout from an electric panel. This product is similar to a device, or an outlet box to hold a device. Nowhere is an outlet box allowed to be hung from a knockout. The idiot code states, must be securely fastened to the structure. A knockout is for electric raceways entrance and Romex style wire entrance. The super wrong thing about the MEIBBC is, it is the support to the main grounding conductor between the main ground to the main electric panel. This product is dangerous and ridiculous. Underwriters Laboratory must be held responsible for the danger of this product and their neglect on the issue of electric safety.
Southwire has licensed the MEIBB and the Safe-T-Brace. Why? Who are the people that have no knowledge of electric safety or the NEC code book? To the individuals that licensed these products to be tied to the great company Southwire, check your medical insurance policy. If your medical insurance policy pays for substance abuse help, use it. The same applies to the authors of 250.94 A or B. Why is this a code? Was it Wednesday and you had nothing to do?
Southwire check out Fixture Support Systems products at my website ezbrace.net. There are videos to support my products and to remove the products your chemical dependent addicts licensed.
